Supporting Business Continuity Planning through
an Earthquake Disaster Simulations
NRI provides consulting services to create business continuity plans that incorporate the results of disaster damages and employee emergency location simulations.
In March 2012, the Cabinet Office published the results of a projected seismic intensity distribution and tsunami height in the event of a major Nankai Trough earthquake. This was followed in April by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's publication of the outcome of a projected M7.3 earthquake occurring in the northern end of Tokyo Bay, und er the Metropolitan Tokyo area. With these revised projections of the damage caused by major earthquakes, the government, municipalities, and corporations were requested to review their own disaster response plans.
NRI has been studying the issue of. disaster prevention and response for more than 20 years through surveys and other research. Our main concentration has been in disaster prevention planning and damage simulations for the Central Disaster Prevention Council of the Cabinet Office and regional governments, as well as analysis of potential damages and the creation of business continuity plans (BCP) for private businesses.
Expanding and building on our expertise in this area, NRI has for the past several years provided BCP consulting services, including services that visualize forecasted damages utilizing damage simulations using NRI proprietary tools.
