Nomura Research Institute, Ltd. (NRI: Tokyo; Akihisa Fujinuma, Chairman and President, CEO & COO) has decided to build its new data center in Tama City, Tokyo. This will be NRI’s fifth data center in Japan and the fourth in the metropolitan area.

The floor space of the new data center will be larger than that of the Yokohama No. 2 Data Center (15,888 m2 in total), which was constructed in 2007, and will increase the total floor space of all of NRI’s data centers by about 30 percent.

In addition to serving as a base for NRI’s expanding outsourcing business, the new data center will function as a core center for cloud services. By using leading-edge green IT to improve environmental performance, it will contribute to helping reduce the environmental impact on society.

NRI will invest about 20 billion yen in constructing this new data center, which is scheduled to be completed in fiscal 2012.
