Nomura Research Institute America, Inc. (NRI America: New York, USA; Hiromichi Minami, President), which is one of overseas bases of Nomura Research Institute, Ltd. (NRI: Tokyo, Japan; Akihisa Fujinuma, Chairman and President, CEO & COO), established a branch office in Dallas on August 1, 2008. The Dallas branch office plans to offer consulting and IT solution services for the distribution and retail industries in the US. NRI is positioning its Dallas branch office as the base of business activities for the US retail industry, and intends to expand such business in the future.

The US retail industry has been experiencing cost increases due to rises of fuel expenses and personnel expenses and revenue decreases due to sluggish consumption, which has resulted in declining profits. Under these circumstances, NRI will draw on the extensive achievements it has built up in Japan and other Asian countries in providing consulting and solution services to retail industries, and will be actively involved in conducting business activities in the US with the Dallas branch office as its base.
