Nomura Research Institute, Ltd.

Nomura Research Institute, Ltd. (NRI: Tokyo, Japan; Akihisa Fujinuma, President, CEO & COO) has newly established an “e-e Partner” program to further strengthen its cooperative ties with selected partner companies in the field of system solution business. NRI signed “e-e Partner” contracts with Cube System Inc. (Tokyo, Japan; Osamu Sakiyama, President) and Toho System Science Co., Ltd. (Tokyo, Japan; Seiji Shinohara, President & COO). “e-e Partner” refers to “extended-e Partner.”

NRI selects companies that have highly professional business expertise and information technology capabilities as well as a high level of information security, and enters into “e Partner” contracts with them. In addition to our close cooperation in project management, NRI and its “e Partner” companies jointly promote innovative activities for enhancement operations including business process reforms. We also systematically strengthen the three most important areas of our system solution business, i.e., human resources, quality and information security, and facilitate the building of a business model that draws upon the best of each company’s expertise and that ensures coexistence and success for all involved.

Under the newly established “e-e Partner” program, NRI and the “e-e Partner” companies will jointly formulate mid- and long-term plans for innovation activities and will cooperate with each other in developing not only specific projects under “e Partner” contracts but also innovative activities for enhancement operations as part of company-wide activities.

In addition, “e-e Partner” companies intend to expand their roles in new projects based on the reliable relationships and expertise acquired through joint innovative activities for enhancement operations with NRI. NRI will cooperate with “e-e Partner” companies in developing human resources in areas such as quality management, improvement of production technology and project management that are necessary for promoting business innovation activities.

Enhancement Operation Innovation Activities
In system development, even after the system begins operation, continued efforts are needed to maintain quality and performance and to improve functions while addressing any changes in customer requirements and requests as well as any environmental changes. The NRI Group gives emphasis to these activities that are beyond ordinary system maintenance by calling them “enhancement operations” that require high expertise and profound business knowledge.

The NRI Group has also been promoting these enhancement operations in pursuit of improving quality and productivity.

As part of these efforts, since April 2005, we have been holding “Enhancement Operation Innovation Committee” meetings to share information and discuss related matters on a company-wide basis. In April 2006, we established the Enhancement Innovation Department to improve the visualization and standardization of operating procedures and promote the sharing of achievements.
