Establishment of the New Information Service Company
August 24, 2007
Nomura Research Institute, Ltd. Nomura Research Institute, Ltd. (NRI: Tokyo, Japan; Akihisa Fujinuma, President, CEO & COO) will establish a new company, NRI Social Information System Services, Ltd., that supports the employment of seniors in communities on October 1, 2007.
NRI has developed “Ageless 80,” a comprehensive information processing system as an industry standard for senior employment support centers* in communities, and has contributed to the utilization of community human resources in a variety of ways. Currently, as we approach the time when a large number of baby boomers are reaching their retirement age, there are increasing needs for the development of a society where seniors can work actively and enthusiastically. In order to meet the needs of communities and to further support the efforts to establish contacts between seniors and communities, NRI decided to spin off these activities as a separate company, NRI Social Information System Services, Ltd. Our aim is to achieve sales of about \1.8 billion after three years.
These centers are established in most municipalities all over Japan. Under the basic principles of “independence/self-reliance, cooperation/mutual aid,” these organizations help seniors work systematically to gain additional income, maintain health, live a worthwhile life and contribute to society. In principle, any senior aged 60 or above who is nearing retirement age or is living a post-retirement life, and who is healthy and has the will and ability to work and who agrees to the objectives of the senior employment support center, can join the center.
