Financial services have been becoming increasingly borderless, and more and more foreign financial institutions are considering the evolution of businesses in Japan. In order for foreign financial institutions to operate successfully in Japan, it is vitally important that they understand the differences in the procedures and customs between Japan and their home countries.
With our achievements of many years in research, surveys and consulting in the financial industry, NRI has acquired a vast amount of information and expertise concerning the financial industry in Japan. Furthermore, our continuing surveys and research into the latest trends in banking and financial services in other countries enable us to offer a wide variety of useful information and consulting services that fully consider the differences from country to country, which are faced by non-Japanese financial institutions operating or planning to operate in Japan. NRI has started to issue a monthly report in English that outlines the latest trends in the financial industry and the moves being taken toward reforms to help non-Japanese financial institutions better understand the current situation in Japan. This report will be issued on the 20th of every month and is offered free of charge. Each report is devoted to one particular theme and generally consists of four pages. These reports are available by downloading them from NRI’s official website. Origin of the name lakyara Kyara, which means “precious” in ancient Japanese, is an aromatic resin regarded as the highest quality of all agarwood. Lakyara
